The building of the shed had been on hold as life took over so it sat in bits in the backyard slowly being claimed by the grass (someone really should mow that stuff).
So we decided this morning, either finish it or give up on it. Something – other than it messing up the place.
Dosen’t help that the sun beats down on the tin and bloody near blinds you. Nor that a little black & white dog ate half the instructions. Or the fact that none of the holes line up (3mm out might as well be a foot out).
*sigh*
Then we lost the drill bit in the grass – the only drill bit l had in that size. And the chuck on the drill almost siezed (dunno why, took forever to get it to play). We kept going inside for sanity adjustments, cold drinks and bug spray.

l already had one panel done the other day. So we did all the others. Dosen’t look real big laying on the ground.

Ohhhh….lot bigger when standing. Rather a lot bigger…l tried to point out that we will have buckleys chance of getting it to the paddock when completed but hey, what do l know.

Love the muddy dog footprints on the now standing panel.

Somehow it seems a tad bigger than its meant to be….

l have news for that shed tho…..it be now half completed sitting on the path l use to pick up the market trailer. It cannot prop there for long.
l think it will work, morph into a pony shelter. l don’t want the doors on it so a extra frame support will have to be made. And some of the kit ideas are just crap so we will add flashing and cross supports.
Tomorrow is but another day.
(Still cant see it getting up the paddock. On what? A low loader??)

A teacher was doing a study testing the senses (taste)

Had to go down to the wharf and grab some photos of the tall ship for our local newsletter. Withing seconds the sky went black and lightening started jumping about….that was me gone!
Too tired to add pretty words so will just add photos of pretty boat.

Had a nice chat to skippers about re-inactment (oh, these modern boats! says l, 1350 England!!!), authenticity and Marine Board survey, ect. Very interesting and have made a time slot over the weekend to have another look onboard (without the light show from above).

Some advice given:

This little green bug was slightly lost today. Found inside my class room, my class didn’t want me to ‘do it in’ (l dint want to either). So l saved him and bought him home to let loose in the bush.
Got some photos first. Methinks he isn’t long out of his egg/cocoon/whatever as his wings hadn’t unfolded all the way.
No idea what sort of bug (haven’t had a chance to go looking online) but he was wearing his christmas clothes.

Okies. We have the water issue under control, now for a bit of shelter.
l did buy one of those shade cloth sails but have dissed that idea now (nice waste of $75, add that to the $65 pipe fitting that l don’t need and my shed is filling with crap again). l can’t see me getting four holes dug in the rock hard ground, never mind the cement and stuff.
Gone a different way.
Have seen a shed that someone has re-designed and is using as a pony shelter so l’ll go the same way.
l ordered the shed and it arrived today so off l poodled to pick it up. When they said ‘flat packed’, they forgot to say ‘bloody heavy flat packed’. But l worked that out when 4 men and a fork lift got the pack into Trev trailer. l were thinking on the way home ‘how am l gunna get it outta there’ but dint have to worry….

l put the jockey wheel on the trailer and were going to go off and have a think. The trailer flipped. Okies, part of the drama over, just dragged the trailer forward and the flat pack fell out.

Two of my helpers make sure the box is really checked!

Spare parts? Oh…and instructions…l’ll be needing those….

Um…the doubts were beginning to set in with the more bits l took out of the box. This is not looking real hopeful and the instructions are bloody woeful.

Some two hours later….thats it. Ran out of daylight and the mozzies drove me indoors.
l skipped the instructions for the front panel (too confusing) and for the gabled panels (even more confusing). So just the back.
Have no idea how l’m going to do this.
There is no power down the paddock so the drill wont work. The battery drill is shit and l dont want to rely on it.
Advisors said build it at home and cart the end product up the paddock. Two things they dint think of – 1. too bloody heavy to lift when done and 2. carry it up there on what? 9ft by 9ft aint sitting on any trailer l have.
l thought maybe taking up all the panels and assembling it up there but reading the instructions, the last bit involves lots of stuff that l might not be able to do up there.
Dunno.
Got to work tomorrow so will ponder further. Am considering taking up the offer l had of sumone building it for me but they will face the same issues l am.
Given up for today.

He is a carabidae beetle.

All carabids are terrestrial and can be found living under the bark of trees or amid the foliage, under rocks and fallen logs, in crevices in the ground and at the edges of streams, ponds and beaches. Many of the ground dwelling species are flightless.
Um…the fact it cant fly is all good.

Both the larvae and adults of carabids are carnivorous and predatory.

Adults often shelter under objects during the day and emerge at night to hunt insects and other small invertebrates such as slaters and worms grasping them with their powerful mandibles.
Yeah? Well the adults also nip the tip of a pencil off with their powerful manibles too!

Adults are nocturnal.
