In hindsight, l should of just meandered my way through the day. Everything tried to jump in my way to make me late.
l wanted to go to the library sale in another town but also needed to be back to open my workplace at the usual time.
Thats okay, l thought, l’ll zoom over early to the sale and be there on opening time. The ladies who run the sale know that when l’m there, they have to throw me out at a certain time so l make it back for work.
Well, with all the storms last night l decided to shift my car out of the way of a 60ft tree incase it did a freefall in the wind. l parked on the front lawn….which was a good safe area….until we had 122mls of rain dumped on us.
l jump in the car this morning ahead of time. l hear the motor going but the scenery dint change. Planted my foot and buried the car further.
Got out, had a look and decided to put some cardboard sheets down in the hope l’d get a bit of firm ground.

Nope.
Tried straightening the wheels, bending the wheels, patting the car, cussing the car, screaming and throwing a hissy fit.

No good. Car stayed stuck.
l bit my pride and rang for help (the laughter l heard will dealt with later). He said he’d send a truck down to tow me out as ‘most likely you would only stop trying when the door handles disappeared in mud’. Pfft.
While l were waiting, some folk l know pulled up and told me ‘Hey, your bogged!’.
No shit Sherlock! So glad you told me that!!!!
They said they were strong men and would lift the car out.
*cough*
l stood back and left them to it. Only when the exhaust pipe went under the mud did they give up.
They were thinking of plan #2 when the truck rocked up. l really like how those 2 ’strong men’ kindly told the truck driver that l had really sunk it this time. Say wha????
Truck driver looks at me and says ‘You know, they invented gravel driveways for a reason?’.
Grrr. Chains on my car, one strong man steering car out of the mire and l finally got to head off on my way.
Scored well l did:

Lots of craft and autobiographies, nice set of first edition Doctor Dolittle hardcovers. Just got to list them online (in my spare time like).
The only bad bit was that l’d arrived late and had to park on a hill behind the hall. And that hill was grass…..this time a nice 4WD dragged my car out and l made it to work ontime (albit with a extremely muddy looking wagon).
Meant to be going out to a meeting tonight and then packing for market tomorrow, market on sunday. But you know what? l dunt want to. l want to curl up and have a snooze by the fire.
l’m praying for rain this weekend so the market is a no go and l can stay home.
But l did learn summin from today…l picked a different spot to park tonight when l got home. (Robin already hinted not to drive in the paddock to check the ponies unless l wanted to see a tow chain for the 3rd time today…)
Left this behind me…

So l kept driving and parked under the tree on the drive way instead.
Pfft.
Hate winter and soft ground!
Shouldn’t of rushed.

I think the trick is to park on the hill in such a way that you can rolll down/away when you want to leave (or if you know if your car is front or rear wheel drive you put the driving wheels on the downhill bit if you have to drive back uphill). So they tell me anyway – the only time I got stuck was when I put my morrie 1300 into a ditch. There are so many people with “remuera tractors” who don’t need such a vehicle whereas I do, but can’t affod one
All I can think of is…..gosh Mr Clean one thing a day, did a good job on your front yard. !! Weren’t there trees and bushes and stuff there once?
Key word being ‘once’.
Tis almost a abandon looking shack now!
